Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc. Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc. (GEI) is a not-for-profit corporation formed in 2003 by Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc. GEI was founded as a result of the conviction that Goodwill could positively impact students by encouraging them to graduate from high school, as well as create an additional community resource that would provide access to education and employment services for families. The mission of Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc., is to develop and operate charter high schools to prepare young people for productive lives. GEI will accomplish this mission in partnership with and by utilizing the knowledge, experience, resources and relationships of The Big Picture Company and Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc. GEI holds the charters for The Indianapolis Metropolitan High School, a public mayor-sponsored charter high school. The Indianapolis Met will strengthen communities by helping high school students achieve their fullest potential. By creating a learning community dedicated to educating “one student at a time” and providing schools that foster students’ individual interests, engaging them with teachers, parents and mentors to develop and implement learning plans that focus on those interests, and combining school-based study with real-world experiences, our school offers a learning model and educational resources that did not previously exist in Indianapolis.
